In Chapel Hill, I care for women during their deliveries and during visits to the emergency room for urgent medical conditions. I am passionate about supporting women to have healthy pregnancies and safe and joyful experiences during labor. It is a great privilege to be part of that magical moment when a couple first welcomes a new baby at delivery. Whether in the delivery unit or the emergency room, my goal is to support women to feel heard, empowered, and receive excellent and compassionate care. I also spend half of my time in Malawi, in East Africa, working with local healthcare providers to improve women’s health. My primary research is in cervical cancer prevention, which disproportionately affects women in low-income countries like Malawi. Together with local partners, I work on several initiatives to improve access to cervical cancer screening and treatment of precancer, especially among women living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It is an honor and privilege to do this work.
