About Jacob "Jake" Perrin, MD, MA
I arrived here in North Carolina via a somewhat circuitous route. Born in Seattle (Go Mariners!), I moved to California when I was young and spent my more formative years in Los Angeles. I attended undergrad at a small liberal arts school and decided that, before starting up medical school, I would seek a degree in Bioethics. I arrived here in North Carolina via a somewhat circuitous route. Born in Seattle (Go Mariners!), I moved to California when I was young and spent my more formative years in Los Angeles. I attended undergrad at a small liberal arts school and decided that, before starting up medical school, I would seek a degree in Bioethics. There werent a ton of programs at the time, and my favorite was in Winston-Salem, so my new wife and I packed up and moved to North Carolina just two weeks after getting married! I fell in love with the state and wanted to attend medical school at a place where I could learn how to provide excellent primary care for underserved populations. Although my wife and I always expected to move back to California, Chapel Hill turned out to be the perfect place to cultivate these interests. While attending medical school, I directed our student-run continuity clinic for the underserved, learned Spanish while working at a clinic in Guatemala, and fell in love with the state and my patients. During my time in medical school, I was continually inspired by this departments passion for the underserved of North Carolina and dedication to pursuing equitable policy solutions both locally and nationally. In my spare time, my number one priority is spending time with my exceptionally lovely wife, Rachael, and our endearingly neurotic dog, Watson. We enjoy running the beautiful North Carolina trails, traveling, reading, watching movies and drinking delicious beverages-Pinot Noir and a well-crafted Old Fashioned are my favorites!
