As a surgeon working with my hands, I recognize the importance of maintaining the function and dexterity of the hands and upper extremities for my patients. I work with patients to attain their goals, whether it is to return to work, sport, or just the activities of daily living. Often these goals can be accomplished with non-operative interventions, but when surgery is needed, I work to accommodate my patients, keeping them informed about the surgical procedure and post-operative recovery. I also focus on providing good peri-operative pain control while limiting the number of narcotic pain medications needed, using evidenced-based opioid sparing pain control protocols. Many of these surgeries can be performed on an outpatient basis. While growing up in southern Indiana, athletics were an important part of my upbringing. I enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and baseball. Outside of work, I still remain active playing basketball, mountain biking, hiking, paddle-boarding and snowboarding. I developed an interest in travel and other cultures after living abroad with my family for several years in São Paulo, Brazil. I have taken part in medical aid and surgical training trips to the Dominican Republic, Thailand and Nicaragua.
